Olympiastadion Berlin — Hertha BSC's Home

Since 1963

Home Since the Bundesliga's Birth

A Historic Move

In 1963, Hertha BSC moved to the Olympiastadion Berlin — a decision that marked not just a new home ground, but a turning point in the club's history. That same year, Die Alte Dame became a founding member of the Bundesliga, Germany's top division. The Olympiastadion, originally built to host the 1936 Olympic Games, became the stage for six decades of blue-and-white football.

The Stadium's Scale

Today, the Olympiastadion stands as one of Germany's largest football venues, with an all-seater capacity of 74,475. Set within the sprawling Olympiapark, the ground carries the weight and grandeur of its Olympic past — a space built for the world's greatest athletes, now the weekly home of Berlin's greatest football club.

Matchday

The Atmosphere of History

On matchdays, the Olympiastadion transforms. Royal blue and white fill the stands — 74,000 voices singing for Die Alte Dame. Every chant echoes off stone that has stood since 1936. Every roar carries the weight of Berlin itself, a city that has lived through triumph and struggle, championship seasons and hard seasons, and always — always — football.

The Olympiastadion is not just a stadium. It is a monument to the club's permanence, to Berlin's passion, and to the idea that some grounds are inseparable from the clubs that play in them. For Hertha BSC, it is home.

Before 1963

Earlier Grounds, Deeper Roots

The Plumpe · Gesundbrunnen

Before the Olympiastadion, Hertha BSC played at the Sportplatz Gesundbrunnen, known affectionately as the Plumpe. This was a Berlin ground through and through — intimate, alive with supporter culture, and soaked in the club's early decades.

The Poststadion

Another chapter in Hertha's Berlin story was written at the Poststadion, another home ground that held the club's ambitions and its supporters before the 1963 move. These stadiums were the foundations on which Die Alte Dame built its identity.
